From humble beginnings as a one-man business almost 15 years ago, APS Movements has grown into a thriving haulage company specialising in the movement of a variety of mobile plant and contractor equipment.

The company was founded in 1992 by Martin Bradwell, who saw redundancy as the opportunity to launch his own business – which still believes in the standards that come with family values.

When his employer's company went into receivership, he bought the low-loader trailer he had operated for them, and took on work for clients he had previously dealt with, giving the new company a name drawn from those of his sons Andrew, Phillip, and Simon. They now all work in the business, with Martin taking a back seat and keeping a fatherly eye on operations.

A year later Simon joined his father, operating their single vehicle on a shift basis. A year later still, they acquired a further tractor unit and a bulk tipper, and Simon spent a year using that to deliver grain.

The next step in the company's growth came when retirements at another firm in the same business gave APS the opportunity to acquire a further trailer, along with client contacts.

The machinery movement business grew, and the tipper trailer was exchanged for a four-wheel rigid lorry, and a new client – Nationwide Access – came on board. For three years APS moved Nationwide equipment, firstly from the Scunthorpe depot, and later from Sheffield as well. At this time Andrew joined the company as its third driver, and now looks after the company's operations alongside Simon. Phillip joined a few years ago, and sees to maintenance of the lorry fleet.

The access industry was growing, and APS Movements grew with it. The result of that growth is to be seen on the other pages on this site.
